Healthy Aging Updates! Active Aging News for Week of September 26, 2016
Hey Active Aging Community! It’s been a great week for healthy aging!
Active Aging Week
Spear-headed by the International Council on Active Aging, Active Aging Week celebrates healthy aging and active living.
At Passport For Wellness, we know that Active Aging is such an important factor in living longer and most importantly, maintaining independence & dignity.
We’re Living Longer
According to the World Health Organization, the number of people aged 60 and over is expected to double in the future. By 2050, more than 1 in 5 people on our planet will be 60 or older.
Programs like our #1 video streaming exercise program for seniors will allow more people to stay active without leaving their home.
#0to60 Campaign
The National Foundation on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, commemorated its 60th Anniversary with the launch of the #0to60 Campaign.
#0to60 aims to inspire more seniors to lead healthy and active lifestyles. This campaign has a simple, but powerful message: The fastest way to living healthy starts right now.
Seniors’ Skin Health
Seniors’ skin health is more important than ever – especially now that we’re living longer. How can you make sure your skin is healthy while staying active? This Infographic makes it easy as 1-2-3.
Eat Healthy, Stay Strong
Malnutrition and muscle loss is a problem in the senior population. It’s important to eat healthy and stay active to combat this prevalent issue.
If you are 50 or older, you are particularly vulnerable to malnutrition due to inadequate food consumption and the body’s decreased effectiveness in processing nutrients. Poor nutrition and not exercising can cause muscle loss. In fact, about half of older adults have significant muscle loss which can impact overall health.
Each day of Active Aging Week had a different theme and we had a blast celebrating healthy seniors and educating our Passport For Wellness Facebook Community about how they can get involved in healthy and active aging.
